You can integrate Google Analytics 4 with your Dev Portal to track developer activity and Dev Portal usage. Once configured, Google Analytics 4 will receive event data from your Dev Portal, allowing you to monitor page views, developer journeys, and API documentation engagement.
Send Dev Portal events data to Google Analytics
In the settings for your Dev Portal, click the Integrations tab, configure Google Analytics 4 with your Google Analytics 4 measurement ID, and enable the integration.
Prerequisites
Dev Portal
For this tutorial, you’ll need a Dev Portal pre-configured. If you don’t have these settings already configured, follow these steps to pre-configure it:
- In the Konnect sidebar, click Dev Portal.
- Click New portal.
- Enter a name for your Dev Portal.
- Click Create and continue.
- Customize your Dev Portal’s appearance.
- Click Save.
Google Analytics 4
You need an active Google Analytics 4 account with a data stream configured. Copy and save your measurement ID.
Configure the Google Analytics 4 integration
Configure the Google Analytics integration in your Dev Portal settings.
- In the Konnect sidebar, click Dev Portal.
- Click your Dev Portal.
- In the Dev Portal sidebar, click Settings.
- Click the Integrations tab.
- Click Google Analytics 4.
- Click the Enabled toggle.
- In the Tracking ID field, enter the measurement ID for your Google Analytics data stream.
- Optional: Click Advanced configuration to configure the data layer name.
- Click Save.
Validate
You can verify that the integrations are working as expected by navigating to your Dev Portal URL and inspecting the Network information on the page. You should see your Google Analytics information there.
